The Avenue is breathtaking in it's peaceful tranquility. Turn right at our flag by the gate and walk straight on and you'll see a road called The Avenue on your left. Turn to this road and walk straight up the hill. It's a perfect short walk for dog walking
The building was commissioned by the 4th Duke of Newcastle in memory of his wife. It was designed by Sir Robert Smirke and completed in 1833. Most of the building served as a family mausoleum, with the nave as a parish church. It is a beautiful architectural tribute that is now a Grade 1 Listed Building and is on the National Heritage List for England. This is a lovely spot for dog walking with benches to have a seat and take in the view.
Just to the left and around the corner is a wonderful little path off the beaten track that is perfect for dog walking. Once you get to the end simply follow the road round to the left and you will soon find your bearings back to the cottage.
